Dream Big

“Joining the NZDF was my dream. The staff were loving and really, really, cared about my progress and would always check up on me. I got to where I am because of them.”

Grace had always dreamed of joining the New Zealand Defence Force but didn’t really know where to start. Her school advisor recommended that she get prepared and become qualified. Shortly after that conversation she discovered NZSE College and decided to join the whānau - enrolling in our NZ Certificate in Security (Level 3).

“I found out about that course though my school advisor, he knew that I really wanted to join the New Zealand Defence Force, so he recommended me to further my knowledge”

Throughout her studies, Grace not only grew academically but gained skills that were transferable across any profession.

“It helped me in regard to my self-discipline, my organisational skills, time management, commitment to things, and physical training”

Thanks to the help of the staff, Grace was able to get the most out of the course in an environment where she felt supported and empowered to reach her goals.

“The staff were so loving and caring. They really, really, cared about your progress and would check up on you. They’d always ask how you were doing, what you want to do in the future, and about your goals”

After graduating, Grace not only gained her qualification but achieved her dream of joining the NZDF as she now works as an Ordinary Marine Technician for the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Grace recommends NZSE and our Security course to anyone wanting to join the NZDF or similar careers, as it provides that extra step to turning that dream into reality.

“If you want to see your career in the Police Force or NZDF it’s a great way to prep yourself for the military as a whole and you learn lots of great life skills and great things that you can apply to your job which I do today, so yeah, I’d 100% recommend it”
