What is the Domestic and International Hardship Fund for Learners?

The New Zealand Government has created the Hardship Fund for Learners (HAFL) to provide financial assistance to tertiary students whose studies have or are being affected by COVID-19.

If you are experiencing financial hardship that is getting in the way of your studies, the Hardship Fund for Learners could help you.

How can the Domestic and International Hardship Fund for Learners help you?

The Hardship Fund for Learners can help with a range of costs including but not limited to;

Eligibility for Domestic and International Hardship Fund for Learners

To be eligible, you need to be a current student enrolled in either a NZSE or Seafield School of English programme who is experiencing financial hardship during COVID-19*. The Domestic and International Hardship Fund for Learners is available to both domestic and international students. 

Before applying, you should have already used all of your entitlements under the Student Loan scheme.

Apply for hardship fund for learners

Apply for the Hardship Fund for Learners below and our Student Support representatives will get in touch with you to discuss.

You will need to supply evidence of your bank account. This evidence can be either a recent bank statement, Internet banking screenshot, or a screenshot from your bank app. It must show your name and the account number. Please email this evidence by email to studentsupport@nzse.ac.nz with your name and Student ID in the subject line.
