This August, ATC Military Prep launches a brand new programme to meet job demands in sports and recreation industries.
It is predicted that by 2027 over 105,000 additional jobs will be available in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland, with the largest increase in Creative, Culture, Recreation and Technology, up by 14%.
ATC Military Prep, one of NZSE’s schools that focusses on preparing rangitahi for career pathways into armed forces and beyond, will now teach a new programme as a result to meet this demand – New Zealand Certificate in Sports, Recreation and Exercise (Level 3).
Developed by ATC tutor Matt Fuller, this programme prepares students for the future job market, providing the knowledge and skills needed to work under direct supervision in entry-level support roles within a range of sport, recreation, and exercise industries.
“If you have ever considered a career or job in the sport, exercise, or recreation field, but don't know where to start - then this course is for you!” says Fuller.
Our upcoming NZ Certificate in Sports, Recreation and Exercise (Level 3) is a 16 week programme that focusses on the different roles and trades in the Sport & Exercise industry.
Components of this programme include nutrition, first aid, injury and risk, basic physical training, and event management.
During the second block of the programme, students will have to opportunity to plan and run an outdoor event, where they will apply their theory-based learning to use in a local environment.
Upon completing this programme, graduates can expect to work in gyms as assistants to trainers, school holiday and after school care facilities, YMCAs and similar facilities.
This is also a programme students can complete to launch into further studies at tertiary levels with a focus on exercise.
Our first cohort for our NZ Certificate in Sports and Recreation (Level 3) starts on the14th of August at our Manukau Campus, and enrolments are open now!
Every year, ATC holds an annual competition where all students from our three campuses: Manukau, Waikato, and Waitakere, come together to compete for the top honours within ATC.
The ATC Terminator Challenge is designed to be fun and exciting, whilst also testing the physical, mental, and strategic potential of our students to achieve success as a team. It has been two long years on hold, but the challenge makes its 2022 comeback with drill and circuit challenges, endurance sports, team work strategy, tug-of-war and so much more.
This year we will hold our ATC Terminator Event on Thursday 27th October 2022 at:
