New Zealand Skills and Education’s new Bachelor of Business Information Management degree prepares students from all walks of life with the soft skills and tech expertise required to be successful in various professions.
This is the first bachelor’s degree for NZSE. Based at our Auckland City campus, the three-year BBIM equips students with a versatile skillset bridging the gap between businesses and technology.
To celebrate the start of our first cohort, members of the industry and educators joined together to learn more about the programme and what it means for the future of our students – and industries they will enter.
This degree prepares students for a versatile skillset that will give them a technological edge across various sectors of business.
“Technology is our heart,” says Wendy Liao, NZSE CEO. “The first programmes we offered two decades ago at NZSE were IT. Our graduates possess the understanding of the critical link between businesses and customers, making them the perfect fit for industry.”
Instilling best practices in the business and technology worlds, along with technical upskilling, this degree equips students with the vital communication, analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to apply oneself effectively in any chosen professional pathway. In the third year of their studies, students can major in Business Information Systems, Integrated Marketing Communications or Data Analytics. Ultimately, graduates’ skills can be used across various types of organisations – from small businesses to large enterprises.
During their study, students are connected to real-world opportunities. The response from industry has been overwhelmingly positive, especially by those who have partnered with NZSE on the three-year curriculum, such as global technology business, ZOZO.
“We work with educational partners such as NZSE to better equip students with practical experiences that work in tandem with academic learning – preparing them for the workforce”, says Gordon Macdonald, ZOZO’s Head of Operations. “This collaboration benefits both students and industry.”
NZSE is currently the only tertiary education provider in Aotearoa offering this bachelor’s degree. What more, while equipping people with a versatile and in-demand skillset, in an environment that provides support in more than just studies.
Thrilled about teaching such a high value qualification in an intimate learning environment, tutor Rajika Vyas says, “We provide support to our young learners who may feel lost in a big university space. The learners receive holistic support including care for their mental wellbeing.”
To commemorate the degree’s launch, NZSE is providing an opportunity for those underrepresented in the Tech world to start their careers through the Tūrama Scholars Programme. Applications are NOW open for women, Māori, Pasifika and academic achievers – both in New Zealand and those overseas – who want to make an impact on the tech and business industries.
Thanks to all our industry partners who collaborated with us in designing this degree and to all who celebrated with us at our launch event. We wish our first intake of student for our BBIM an exciting start to their learning journey with us!
Every year, ATC holds an annual competition where all students from our three campuses: Manukau, Waikato, and Waitakere, come together to compete for the top honours within ATC.
The ATC Terminator Challenge is designed to be fun and exciting, whilst also testing the physical, mental, and strategic potential of our students to achieve success as a team. It has been two long years on hold, but the challenge makes its 2022 comeback with drill and circuit challenges, endurance sports, team work strategy, tug-of-war and so much more.
This year we will hold our ATC Terminator Event on Thursday 27th October 2022 at:
A terminator challenge is an event the whole family can enjoy.
