NZSE College produces NZ's first graduates of Early Childhood Education Level 4 delivered and assessed in Mandarin

July 22, 2022

On Friday the 15th of July 2022 we had the honour of celebrating Aotearoa’s first graduates of Early Childhood Education Level 4 taught and assessed in Mandarin.

18 weeks ago, 14 students joined the NZSE College whānau eager to learn more about caring for the next generation of learners and on Friday we got to recognise their hard work. Most of these students are grandparents who want to learn how to provide better care for their grandchildren in New Zealand while fostering their Chinese roots. A truly humbling reminder that learning never ceases while highlighting the importance of nurturing the next generation.

“I never imagined that I could sit in front of a computer take online lessons and learn so much. Thanks to NZSE who provided us with a platform for learning ECE in Mandarin! Thanks to Michelle for her diligent and meticulous guidance and help. Graduation is not a destination but a new start for me!” - Xinyan Yu (Graduate)

It was moving to see each student called up to receive their certificate with a roar of applause from their family, friends, staff, and stakeholders. NZSE College is committed to teaching students in the best way for them whether that be online, or in their mother tongue. We are truly grateful to be transforming lives through the power of learning and giving back to the community by producing these 14 successful graduates.

Congratulations to these students and a huge thank you to our staff who supported them along the way, particularly tutor Michelle Xu. Your dedication and commitment to our students never pass unnoticed.

“These students have worked so hard and are such an inspiration, especially to the Chinese community. It has been a pleasure teaching them about Early Childhood Education in their mother tongue.” – Michelle Xu (Tutor)

Every year, ATC holds an annual competition where all students from our three campuses: Manukau, Waikato, and Waitakere, come together to compete for the top honours within ATC.

The ATC Terminator Challenge is designed to be fun and exciting, whilst also testing the physical, mental, and strategic potential of our students to achieve success as a team. It has been two long years on hold, but the challenge makes its 2022 comeback with drill and circuit challenges, endurance sports, team work strategy, tug-of-war and so much more.

This year we will hold our ATC Terminator Event on Thursday 27th October 2022 at:

  • Parade and drill competition: Shadbolt Park - Suburbs Rugby Club, 130 Portage Rd, New Lynn,
  • Terminator physical challenge: Motu Moana Scout Camp, 140 Connaught St, Blockhouse Bay

You are invited!

A terminator challenge is an event the whole family can enjoy.
