What programme did you complete at NZSE College?
NZ Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Level 5)
What is your current role?
I am a ECE Teacher at OurKids Glen Eden. I was motivated to become an ECE Teacher as I love children a lot and enjoy working with kids, teaching and looking after them.
What were some of the skills you learnt during your studies at NZSE College?
I learned a lot about ECE during my studies. Not only the practical aspect of Early Childhood Teaching, but also the theory and paperwork side of it. The staff were very helpful and very friendly while I was studying.
How was the support you received from staff or tutors during your studies?
The tutors are really helpful and patient, especially if you don’t understand things such as the course outlines, the tutors explain it to you and help you and if you get stuck, you’ve got a whole team to support you.
What would be your top tips to others who are about to graduate from NZSE College and will be looking for work in the ECE industry?
Always be patient and time management is key. Ask questions when you are not sure and learn as much as you can. This career can be different every day as you deal with all sorts of children and families and being able to think on your feet is a must.
